Chester Half Marathon Open for Entries

Entries for 2015 now open.

Five good reasons for choosing our race:-

Venue - As an international destination city Chester has much to offer visitors including the Roman walls and amphitheatre, shopping on its unique split-level Rows dating from the Middle Ages, the famous Eastgate Clock and museums. On the outskirts of the City are the massive Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, Chester Zoo and the Blue Planet Aquarium.

Route -  The race starts at the city centre Chester Racecourse. The fast (and largely flat) route will be run on entirely on closed roads. Heading north-west out of the City on wide roads runners will rapidly settle into the race, with plenty of support. In the second half of the race runners return to Chester, heading back into the City for a memorable finish outside the Town Hall and Cathedral.

A Race That Goes That Extra Mile  - Chris' legendary obsession with the contents of the goody bags is just one aspect of the energy that the entire organisation puts into getting things spot on.  No detail is too small and we strive to meet the needs of every single runner, ensuring they have a race to remember - a cunningly combined big race feel with a friendly supportive atmosphere. Our passion is to deliver mass participation world class races. With this in mind we are growing the Chester Half Marathon on a gradual basis to ensure that the quality of the race is not compromised in any way.

Drinks stations, with bottled water, will be every 3 miles. There will be chip timing with splits at 10k, halfway, 10 miles and 20k. All finishers will receive a technical T-shirt, bespoke medal and a goody bag!

Besides ramping up the production values when they took over organising the race in 2011, Andy & Chris were keen to grow the event so more people could take part.  The target for 2013 was 6,000 and the event sold out, a firm indication that they are ticking the right boxes for runners.

PR Greet

An Historic Race - the Chester Half Marathon has been run since 1982 and over the years has become one of the classic races in the region.  The route has changed over the years evolving into current format.  The finishing straight through the iconic Northgate and down towards the Town Hall is second to none!  more

Fabulous Facilities - During the whole of the event's long history it has always been associated with the impressive Chester Racecourse and it is easy to see why.  In recent years this venue has seen some spectacular upgrading of its facilities and we have been quick to take advantage of them in order to enhance your experience.

Relocating the Finish to the Town Hall and Cathedral area in 2012 was an inspired move which allowed us to further exploit what Chester has to offer.
