Fun Run

The 2019 Fun Run is now sold out.

The Essar Chester 2019 Half Marathon Fun Run will be open to anyone wanting to take part; however it is aimed primarily at children.  Accompanying parents, guardians and grandparents are welcome - but please note you need to enter too.

We're looking forward to welcoming our Fun Runners and supporting them on their run around The Racecourse. The Fun Run (approximately 1 mile) will be conducted wholly within The Racecourse, starting and finishing at the main race start.

The Fun Run is also raising funds for our race charity Northern Lights Children's Charity.

Each Fun Run participant will be given a souvenir race t shirt and race number, with all finishers receiving a bespoke medal, bottle of water and a treat.

Adults accompanying/running with their children also need to enter the Fun Run.

The Fun Run entry fee is £4, or £5 including a £1 donation to our race charity.   The fun run is now full.

This is a fun run and not a race with the aim being to involve as many people as possible.  With this in mind, everyone is a winner and there are no official timings or prizes.

Schools Challenge!

Local schools (and young people's organisations) are challenged to get together a group to run a mile a week during the period around the race, to run a total of 13.1 miles including the Essar Chester Half Marathon Fun Run on 19th May. Once the school/group has confirmed the 13.1 miles, young runners can earn their very own Half Marathon medal.

Schools and groups will be allowed to pre-order places for the Fun Run on 19th May as part of the challenge.  To register or find out more information contact Linda by emailing for more details.

There are limited places, and these will be issued on a first-come first-served basis.
