Come along and support the runners
If you live close to the race route, why not come out to cheer and
encourage the runners as they go past. The support around the
course will be really appreciated by the runners.
Where is a good place to spectate?
Because of the road closures it will be hard to move around
once the race starts. If you park on the Racecourse you won't be
able to drive off until about 9:45 when the fun run
finishes. Why not watch the start at the Chester Racecourse,
and then take a short walk up to the finish outside Chester Town
Hall.
If you are driving to watch on the course then check the road
closures on the race
route. These are the best places to watch:
The Yacht Inn near Two Mills (access via the A550 and then
Shotwick Lane) is close to the half way turnround point and drinks
station. Limited parking at The Yacht.
To support at around 11 miles, take the A548 and then Western
Avenue to watch the runners on Saughall Road.
Please don't cycle on the course, it is against UK Athletics
Rules as well as the rules of the road, and threatens the safety of
the runners. Only race vehicles are allowed on the closed
roads, and marshals will remove you from the course.
What else can we do in Chester?
While you are out on your run there's no need for friends and
family to be left out. There will be a 1 mile fun run on the
racecourse, aimed at children and toddlers, and accompanying
parents and grandparents are welcome! This is always popular, so
come along and enter on the day.
Chester is a destination city on its own right, with plenty to
do. There is fantastic shopping with superior high-street stores
and boutiques. Enjoy a taste of history walking round our famous
Roman walls, visiting the Roman amphitheatre and seeing the unique
Rows shopping, or take a relaxing stroll along the River Dee.
And if you get hungry there are numerous restaurants, pubs and
delicatessens to suit all tastes. All this in easy walking
distance.
If you want to venture just outside the City, look out for the
Cheshire Oaks designer outlet, Chester
Zoo, or the Blue Planet Aquarium.
