Two Wave Start
There will be a two wave start for the 2020 Aldi Chester 10K to give runners the best experience on race day, these are:
Orange Wave - 09:00
Blue Wave - 09:30
You will be able to choose your start time during the entry process. If you have already entered the race you can edit your entry here to change your start time. In both instances’ runners will be able to change their start time as long as places remain in each wave.
Both waves will include runners of all abilities to ensure there is an even spread and runners have plenty of space right across the course. Our elite field will start at the front of the Orange Wave, followed by runners who have achieved times of sub 40 minutes (men) or sub 45 minutes (women) in 2019 or 2020 who will also start towards the front of the Orange Wave.
It is important you start at the correct time for the wave you have entered.
The fast course starts on Nuns Road at Chester Racecourse and heads north-west out of the City along wide roads allowing runners to rapidly settle into race pace. Runners will then pass close to the picturesque village of Mollington, before returning to the heart of Chester City centre passing the historic Victorian Town Hall and Medieval Cathedral, before finishing on Eastgate Street with a spectacular backdrop of the Eastgate Clock.
A more detailed route profile can be found here.
Cash prizes will be awarded for the top 3 male and female runners and will be based on gun time in the Orange Wave:
1st place £300
2nd place £200
3rd place £100.
The first male and female finisher in each age group from U17 to 80+ will also be awarded a £25 cash prize. Age group prizes will be based on chip times so runners in both waves have an equal chance of winning.
You can expect some fast times over this 10K course, hosted on fully closed roads with chip timing.
Drinks & Toilets
Drinks stations with bottled water, will be positioned in the village of Mollington at the 5K mark.
Toilets will be located around the start venue, at the drink station and after the finish.
