The health, safety and welfare of our runners, volunteers, staff, contractors, stakeholders, the public and local community remains our priority.
We will continue to follow the advice and current guidelines provided by our local council and the governing bodies for our sport. This is a highly dynamic situation and we will continually adapt and adjust our event plans as appropriate. Full details of the measures required to enable us to host Covid secure events and to ensure the safety of everyone involved, will be confirmed closer to race day. Please rest assured we are continually working behind the scenes to deliver a safe and amazing experience for our runners in 2021.

Start Waves
As part of the measures we are implementing to enable us to host a Covid-19 secure event, the Chester 10K will utilise a number of Start Waves. These will be communicated to you before the event.
Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 men and women and the winners of each age group.
It is important you start at the correct time for the wave you will be allocated.
Route
The fast course starts on Nuns Road at Chester Racecourse and heads north-west out of the City along wide roads allowing runners to rapidly settle into race pace. Runners will then pass close to the picturesque village of Mollington, before returning to the heart of Chester City centre passing the historic Victorian Town Hall and Medieval Cathedral, before finishing on Eastgate Street with a spectacular backdrop of the Eastgate Clock.
A more detailed route profile can be found here.
Prizes
Cash prizes will be awarded for the top 3 male and female runners and will be based on gun time in the Orange Wave:
1st place £300
2nd place £200
3rd place £100.
The first male and female finisher in each age group from U17 to 80+ will also be awarded a £25 cash prize. Age group prizes will be based on chip times so runners in both waves have an equal chance of winning.
Timing
You can expect some fast times over this 10K course, hosted on fully closed roads with chip timing.
Drinks & Toilets
Drinks stations with bottled water, will be positioned in the village of Mollington at the 5K mark.
Toilets will be located around the start venue, at the drink station and after the finish.
