The 42nd Essar Chester Half Marathon will take place on 19th May 2024 at 09:00.
The Roman and Medieval city of Chester is an international destination city and has much to offer visitors, including the Roman walls and amphitheatre, shopping on its unique split-level Rows dating from the Middle Ages, the famous Eastgate Clock and museums. On the outskirts of the City are the massive Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, Chester Zoo and the Blue Planet Aquarium. ENTER HERE.
The 2024 race will host a qualifier for the England Athletics and Welsh Athletics Age Group Masters Half Marathon Championship, more details on how you can qualify can be found here.
Route
The race starts at 09:00 at the city centre Chester Racecourse. The fast and predominately flat route will be run entirely on closed roads. Heading northwest out of the city on wide roads, runners will rapidly settle into the race, with plenty of support and music along the way. In the second half of the race the runners return to Chester for an unforgettable finish outside the Town Hall and Cathedral.
Drinks
Drinks stations, with 330ml Brecon Caregg bottled water, will be every 2.5 to 3 miles. We'll also have bands, music and entertainment along the way to entertain the crowds and runners.
Timing
There will be chip timing with splits at 5k, 10k, 15k and 20k, with social media athlete tracking so friends and family can follow your progress.
Medals & Finisher Goodies
All finishers will receive a technical T-shirt, bespoke medal and a top quality goody bag.
All our races are licensed by UK Athletics and run under their rules. To run the Essar Chester Half Marathon you must be at least 17 years old on race day.
