About West Cheshire Foodbank

Proud to be the Active Leisure Events Official Race Charity for 2024

West Cheshire Foodbank is a local registered charity which for the last 10 years has provided emergency food and support in this area to people locked in poverty - Numbers supported locally have doubled over the last 5 years which is a shocking statistic – we have handed out over 1 million tonnes of food since opening.

We are asking all race participants to bring along a tin of food on race day to our collection point – every can helps!

Food banks are not a lasting solution to hunger and poverty, and more than three quarters of the UK population agree with us that they should not need to exist.

Our staff and volunteers are working tirelessly to ensure help continues to be available, but the current situation is not one they can solve alone.

Runners choosing to be part of the WCFB will help us to build on our projects designed to end the need for foodbanks once and for all!

We would love to welcome you to the West Cheshire Foodbank running team. To find out more about the work that we do, click here

Becca’s story…

I had hit rock bottom before being supported by West Cheshire Foodbank, I am 20 years old and had become homeless due to my parents moving away. I had nothing, no food, family or friends locally, not even a place to call my home. That’s when I went to the foodbank, my support worker told me about them and at that point they were the only place I knew that could help. West Cheshire Foodbank saved my life, they helped me with a food parcel meaning I was able to eat (it was the first time I had ate for days), they also had a citizens advice worker there who helped me make sure I was getting all the money I was entitled to and ensured I was getting the right support I needed. I am in a much better place now, I have my own property, a new job and my mental health is so much better, none of that would have been possible if it wasn’t for the help and support I got at West Cheshire Foodbank. They give me hope, hope that the dark times I was in would get better and they were right! I owe a lot to the foodbank, they really do what it says on the tin… help support people in times of need.
